Molly McKaughan is the donor behind the Nicholas
Freemont Plummer Philosophy Prize, created in memory and honor of her
son, Nick, who passed away in 2001. Nick was a philosophy major at UD
and, each year, a philosophy junior is awarded the Plummer prize, often
by Molly herself, to a junior identified by the Philosophy department
faculty as "an outstanding student as indicated by overall academic
record [...] who best embodies the spirit of philosophical inquiry."
Molly was on campus this spring and met with the first recipient of the
prize, Jeremy Cushing (2001 winner), and the most recent, Raymond Peters
(2022 winner).
